# Prompts and instructions (/docs/mcp/prompts)

The server tells the assistant how to use it, so most prompts work without extra setup. For an assistant that posts regularly, for example in a Claude Project or a custom GPT, a few standing instructions about your brand and your rules help it decide well.

Standing instructions [#standing-instructions]

Adapt this and put it in the project or GPT instructions:

```md title="Instructions"
You manage social media for <brand> through the FeedHorizon tools.
Before you act:
- Call get_context first. Use only profile and account ids from it.
- Times are in the profile's time zone. Say times back to me as weekday, date and local time.
Writing:
- Tone: <friendly, direct, no hype>. Language: <English>.
- Write each platform's text to fit it: check get_platform_rules for length and media rules.
- X: under 280 characters, at most one hashtag. LinkedIn: 3–6 short paragraphs.
Posting:
- Run validate_post before create_post and fix every error.
- Default to the queue (when=queue) unless I give a time.
- Never call publish_post_now, retry_post or delete_post without asking me first.
- After scheduling, list what you scheduled: platform, local time, first line of text.
```

Prompts to start from [#prompts-to-start-from]

**Plan a week**

> Look at what is already scheduled on the Soup Club profile for next week. Then write four LinkedIn posts and four X posts about our winter menu, and put them in the queue so no day has more than one post per platform.

**Turn a link into posts**

> Read [https://example.com/blog/winter-menu](https://example.com/blog/winter-menu) and write a LinkedIn post and an X post about it, with the image [https://example.com/images/winter-menu.jpg](https://example.com/images/winter-menu.jpg). Schedule both for Thursday 10:00.

**Check what went wrong**

> Which posts failed in the last 7 days? Group them by cause and tell me what I need to do for each.

**Set up a client**

> Create connect links for Instagram and LinkedIn on the Soup Club profile, so I can send them to the client.

**Tidy the queue**

> Set the queue of Soup Club to Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 09:00 and move the posts already in the queue to the new times.

What the assistant cannot do [#what-the-assistant-cannot-do]

* Connect social accounts itself. It creates a [connect link](/docs/guides/connect-links) that a person opens.
* See analytics such as likes or reach. FeedHorizon publishes posts; it does not collect statistics.
* Read or download images from your computer. Give it a public link (`import_media_from_url`), or let it create an upload link (`create_upload_link`) that you open.
